Velocity String Revives Production of Deep Gas Wells With Halite Deposition

This paper describes treatment of deep gas wells experiencing halite deposition by installation of a velocity string that creates synergy between gas-well deliquefication and halite management.

The complete paper describes a scenario in which, following the reduction of system pressure through depletion compression, more than 150 deep gas wells began experiencing halite deposition. Many of the wells with this issue were also suffering from liquid loading. Velocity strings (VS) were installed as the primary means of gas‑well deliquefication. Many of these wells with VS showed no further halite deposition.
