Aker Solutions will provide umbilicals for Chevron’s oil and gas fields in the US Gulf of Mexico (GOM) and provide 25 km of umbilicals for the company’s Anchor project in that area.
Chevron awarded Aker Solutions a 20-year master agreement that includes the delivery of engineering, design, and manufacturing of dynamic and static control umbilicals, dynamic and static power umbilicals, and service and installation support.
The master agreement includes first work for Chevron’s Anchor project in the GOM located approximately 225 km offshore Louisiana at a water depth of 1,524 meters. The scope includes about 24 km of 20,000-psi dynamic steel tube and power umbilicals and distribution equipment.
The contract will be booked as order intake in the first quarter of 2020 and Aker Solutions' facility in Mobile, Alabama, will perform the engineering, design, and manufacturing, with work to start immediately.
Sanctioned in 2019, the Anchor project is the first deepwater high-pressure development to achieve a final investment decision. Stage 1 of the Anchor development consists of a seven-well subsea development and semi-submersible floating production unit with first oil anticipated in 2024.
The planned facility has a design capacity of 75,000 bbl/day of crude oil and 28 MMcf/day of natural gas.
