August Jobs Report Shows Energy Sector Growth

Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Colorado, and New Mexico round out the top five states.

The Energy Workforce & Technology Council's report released 11 September shows steady employment growth in the US energy services sector, with total jobs reaching 629,435 in August—an increase of 2,989 from July.

Despite adjustments to US Bureau of Labor Statistics data, which revised overall employment numbers to around 630,000, the sector added nearly 3,000 jobs.

Texas leads the workforce with 306,724 jobs, followed by Louisiana (52,558), Oklahoma (47,900), and Colorado (25,555).

While industry jobs are down by approximately 500 on a year-to-year comparison, the outlook for 2024 appears promising.
