Pat Davis Szymczak

Pat Davis Szymczak has covered oil and gas for 30 years, much of that out of Eurasia. She reports from Moscow and has seen firsthand the oil patch in Siberia, Sakhalin, the Arctic, and the Caspian regions. A Chicago native, she arrived in Moscow in 1994 to edit the startup Russian Petroleum Investor. She later set up Argus Media’s Russian business and, in 1999, she founded Oil & Gas Eurasia. Her US journalism career was as a Chicago Tribune staff writer and, earlier, financial editor at the St. Louis Globe-Democrat. She holds an MA in journalism from the University of Illinois and a BA in Russian studies and international relations from Knox College. She can be reached at
