The topsides for Equinor's Peregrino C platform is on its way to Brazil, having set sail from Ingleside, Texas, to the Campos Basin for installation.
Operated by Equinor, Peregrino is a heavy oil field located approximately 85 off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The field is currently developed with two wellhead platforms and an FPSO. A system of pipelines, risers, and cables connect the FPSO to the wellhead platforms.
Equinor said the platform will be installed in December. Phase 2 involves the southwest area of the field, which is currently inaccessible to the existing A and B platforms. The development plan involves increasing the number of production wells in the new area by drilling 15 oil producers and 6 water injectors. It is expected to add 273 million bbls to the lifetime on the field after it comes on stream in late 2020.
