McDermott made its first shipment of topside modules for the MIAMTE MV34 floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit in the Area 1 block about 6 miles off the coast of Mexico for offshore platform operator MODEC.
The FPSO will be in the shallow waters of the Campeche Bay at a water depth of approximately 105 ftt (32 meters).
McDermott said the MODEC scope of work comprises five topside modules to be delivered in two shipments. The first shipment includes modules that will provide compression, vapor recovery, and a laydown area.
McDermott's Altamira fabrication facility in Mexico is delivering the modules and engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of the fixed platform. Engineering support for the project is being performed by McDermott's Houston and Altamira offices.
MODEC is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, mobilization, installation, and operation of the FPSO, including topsides processing equipment as well as hull and marine systems. MODEC’s SOFEC group will design and supply the disconnectable tower yoke mooring system..
The FPSO will be capable of processing 90,000 B/D of crude, 75 million ft3/D, 120,000 B/D of water injection, and a storage capacity of 900,000 bbl of crude oil. First oil is planned for 2021.
MODEC will own the FPSO and provide the operations and maintenance services for an initial 15-year period with the option of 1-year extensions for a further 5 years
