Ipieca, the oil and gas association for advancing environmental and social performance, and the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) have updated their guidance for assessing medical facilities.
Oil and gas operations frequently need to rely on existing medical facilities in their area of operations. The assessment of these facilities capabilities is an essential step in the preparation of medical emergency response plans.
To assist health professionals in this process, Ipieca’s Health Committee has updated Report 588—Medical Facilities Assessment to ensure it is up to date with current practices. The report serves as a checklist for medical professionals to assess local health facilities by guiding them through key elements that should be considered.
The checklist is a series of Yes/No, scaled, and open answer questions that aim to provide clarity and structure to those undertaking the assessment.
