While COVID-19 has affected many aspects of functioning for our industry, members, and SPE, we are implementing new ways of serving our members. To keep members informed on the latest news and technology in the industry, SPE editors recently held the first Editorial Roundtable discussion through LinkedIn Live. This feature allows individuals and organizations to broadcast live video content to their network in real time. After the live broadcast, the video is available for viewing later on SPE’s LinkedIn. Viewers from around the world watched the roundtable and indicated their location in the comments. The video has had more than 10,000 views to date.
During the discussion, SPE editors Trent Jacobs, Brian Balboa, Steve Rassenfoss, and Judy Feder reported on latest news and shared the trends they are watching. Jacobs talked about the details of the OPEC+ moves to end the price war and its implications, and Balboa discussed how the industry is running out of cost-cutting room and said he is following the crude oil storage challenges. While the offshore industry is pushed into survival mode, Feder pointed out that there is still a silver lining. Rassenfoss talked about artificial intelligence methods that drillers are finding useful and efficient. The editors joined the discussions virtually from their homes.
