The Spotlight on New Technology Awards recognize breakthrough innovations that demonstrate significant technical advancement and potential impact across the offshore energy value chain. The awards will be presented during OTC Asia, 31 March–2 April, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Changgui Xu will receive the 2026 Individual Distinguished Award, and CNOOC will receive the 2026 Institutional Distinguished Award.

Wafik Beydoun will receive the 2026 Individual Distinguished Award, and Brava Energia will receive the 2026 Institutional Award.

SPE member Silviu Livescu has been chosen to receive the award in recognition of his groundbreaking contributions to next-generation, low-enthalpy geothermal energy systems, which are enabling widespread, cost-effective building heating and cooling solutions.

The SPE Benin City Section celebrated its 35th section anniversary in July by combining its annual general meeting with a dinner and awards night.

Every year, SPE recognizes members who have made an exceptional effort to ensure the technical excellence of the Society’s peer-reviewed SPE Journal.

SPE is celebrating outstanding associate editors who have distinguished themselves in managing paper timeliness and responsiveness and in providing high-quality reviewer feedback for the Society’s peer-reviewed SPE Journal.

Each year during its Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE), SPE honors members whose outstanding contributions to SPE and the petroleum industry merit special distinction. Recipients will be recognized at the Annual Awards Banquet on 21 October.

This year, 14 individuals joined this elite group, bringing the total membership of A Peer Apart honorees to 235 dedicated members.
