The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), AIQ, and SLB together have launched a new AI-driven software suite for reservoir analysis and field development. Advanced Reservoir 360 (AR360) was launched at the 2023 Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference.
“This achievement exemplifies the power of collaboration in our industry—bringing together industry-leading vision, domain expertise and technology to increase efficiency and accelerate decarbonization in oil and gas, while helping to drive the energy innovation needed to bring our planet back into balance,” said Tarek Rizk, SLB’s president for Middle East and North Africa.
AR360 is a reservoir visualization and performance application that incorporates subsurface data into a single integrated system, using AI and automation to optimize field development plans. The technology was developed through deployment in a series of ADNOC’s upstream operations. When performing complete reservoir model reviews AR360 boosted engineers’ productivity by 75% while ensuring model quality and predictability. AIQ says the application led to improved well performance and extended the lifetime of wells.
“This advanced AI product will play an important role in accelerating digital transformation and achieving a more sustainable future within the global energy industry,” said Omar Al Marzooqi, CEO of AIQ. “This will continue to be the core of our vision to operationalize sustainability in our industry going forward.”
The tool also allows for the optimization of infill drilling programs, which can reduce greenhouse-gas emissions from drilling and flaring operations before wells go into production. The companies are working toward commercializing the solution for the market in the near future.
