WFS Technologies and Subsea Energy Solutions Form Cable Production System Collaboration

WFS Technologies’ collaboration is its second in as many months supporting its Seatooth technologies.

Dashboard for Seatooth's cable protection monitoring

WFS Technologies (WFS) and Subsea Energy Solutions (SES) have collaborated to optimize their expertise in live-condition-monitored cable-protection systems for real-time insight in extreme environments in the offshore energy industry.

The WFS Seatooth technology allows wireless status transmission to and from the surface, to share performance data as a continuous health check while avoiding through-water cabling.

In the collaboration, WFS will pair its technology with SES’s advancements in offshore cable and subsea umbilical, riser, and flowline protection systems.

The two companies aim to help the industry further extend asset life and boost productivity by reducing costs and increasing efficiencies while cutting its carbon footprint. They anticipate increasing their market share in new areas across oil and gas, offshore wind, and marine energy (wave, tidal, and river).

Moray Melhuish, commercial director at WFS Technologies, said the benefits brought on the collaboration are especially important in light of low oil prices and the COVID-19 pandemic, which have impacted resources.

This collaboration is the second WFS has announced in as many months to support global growth for its patented Seatooth products. In April, WFS signed a strategic oil and gas alliance with AeonX in Nigeria to promote and deliver Seatooth products for asset integrity and flow-assurance monitoring to existing and new clients in Nigeria.
