OTC Asia 2024: Marking 10 Years of Excellence and Commitment to Advancement

Hosted by Petronas, the sixth edition of the Offshore Technology Conference Asia drew to a close after a successful event that brought together over 23,000 attendees from a record-breaking 80-plus countries.

Hosted by Petronas, the sixth edition of the Offshore Technology Conference Asia (OTC Asia) drew to a close after a successful event that brought together over 23,000 attendees from a record-breaking 80-plus countries. This year marks a significant milestone as OTC Asia celebrates its tenth anniversary since its inception in 2014.

The event was officiated by Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, president and group CEO, Petronas; Datuk Adif Zulkifli, executive vice president and CEO, upstream, Petronas; and Alex Martinez, chair of OTC Board of Directors. Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik highlighted the importance of collaboration in realizing the region’s sustainability goals.

Throughout the event, the conference featured cutting-edge technologies, fostered collaboration, and facilitated meaningful discussions around key opportunities and challenges facing the offshore energy sector. The theme, "Excellence in Asia: Energizing Now and for the Future," underscored the conference's many conversations to drive sustainable practices in a lower-carbon world through technology and industry collaboration.

OTC Asia 2024, the industry’s most comprehensive platform, showcased an array of sessions including two senior leadership dialogues that delved into the forefront of strategic visioning. Complemented by 16 strategic and technical panels, the program explored key trends and innovations across the traditional and offshore renewables sectors. Additionally, nine multifaceted country sessions offered diverse global perspectives, alongside 40 in-depth technical sessions, ensuring a rich and immersive experience for all participants.

The event drew speakers from the highest echelons of industry operators, service providers, advisory and research firms, and academia including Petronas, PTT Exploration and Production Company Ltd., PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, Mubadala Energy, Halliburton, SLB, PetroChina, CNPC, Gentari, and Baker Hughes.

From pioneering technologies to revolutionary approaches, the expansive exhibition featured an array of innovative services and solutions from key industry players such as Shell, PTT Exploration and Production Company Ltd., T7 Global, ABB, ICE Wood, JX Nippon, CelcomDigi, DNV, NGLTech, Deleum, Sapura Energy, TechnipEnergies, and many more.

OTC Asia's commitment to education and inclusion was evident through its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Insights program, The Next Wave for emerging leaders, University Student Program, and the Energy Education Workshop for high school students. These initiatives reflect OTC Asia's dedication to nurturing talent and empowering the industry for the evolving landscape of offshore technology and energy exploration.

The awards program—Distinguished Achievement Awards, Spotlight on New Technology Awards, and Emerging Leader Award—celebrated innovation and excellence honoring key individuals, organizations, and projects that have demonstrated exceptional advancements and positive impacts.

The next edition of OTC Asia will be held in Kuala Lumpur from 31 March–3 April 2026.
