Topsides for the Peregrino C platform in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil was installed by the world’s largest crane vessel, Heerema’s Sleipnir. The total weight of the topside, including drilling facilities, is 24,000 tonnes, with the main support frame weighing 11,000 tonnes. The floatel GranEnergia Olympia is connected to the platform and 880 individuals will work offshore to prepare the platform for operations later this year.

The jacket for the platform left the Netherlands in October, followed by the topside from Texas and the living quarters from Stord, Norway in November. First oil is expected at the end of this year.

Located 85 km offshore Brazil in water depths of 100 m, the Peregrino field in the Campos Basin is Equinor’s largest international project as an operator (60%), with partner Sinochem (40%) . Part of Peregrino Phase II development, the Peregrino C platform is being added to the field’s southwest area to drill wells to reach reservoirs which are inaccessible through  the current platforms A and B. Phase II development plan involves drilling 15 oil producers and six water injectors at a cost of $3.5 billion to produce the 13.5 °API heavy crude, and is expected to add 273 million bbl in recoverable reserves. Platform C will have drilling facilities, utilities, power generation, living quarters, and helideck.
