Hiber, an industrial Internet-of-Things startup, announced that it has signed an agreement with Shell to provide well-integrity monitoring solutions globally.
The global framework agreement allows all Shell entities and subsidiaries to use the HiberHilo product. Launched in October 2020, HiberHilo is an end-to-end IoT platform for data-driven well monitoring. Based on satellite technology, the platform lets oil and gas companies measure real-time well temperature and pressure on unconnected wells in remote and offshore locations. It has been installed at Shell operations in the North Sea.
Shell said it aims to use HiberHilo to reduce the amount of travel to and from wells in remote locations.
“After testing HiberHilo, the opportunity was clear,” said Ian Taylor, Shell’s global principal technical expert for well integrity. Hiber says that operations in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa are considering using HiberHilo, as well.
“HiberHilo is a simple solution to help oil and gas companies improve safety, optimize operations, and reduce their environmental footprint,” said Coen Jansen, Hiber’s chief strategy officer. “We’re thrilled to be working with Shell toward a technologically cleaner future.”
Hiber, founded in 2016 in the Netherlands, designs, builds, and operates end-to-end IoT platforms, focusing on industrial uses such as well integrity or heavy equipment monitoring.
